The Latest Happenings at ink_d

7 December 2015

It’s all been going on in our Brighton Gallery this month events wise. Over the past two weekends we’ve had a book signing by the kings of cursing Modern Toss and had two of the best draughtsmen in the art game playing some Victorian parlous games in the gallery.

On Saturday Carne Griffiths and Benjamin Murphy were hosting a collaborative drawing class like no other based on the age old game ‘Consequences’, or as the surrealists named it ‘Exquisite Corpse’.

For 10 lucky visitors who got their names down for the workshop, the day saw them creating ingenious and fascinating artwork, heavily embracing the elements of fate and chance. Using the finest pens and ink provided by Derwent, the finished artworks were signed by both of the artists, with some weird and wonderful creations being formed. We’d like to say a huge thank you to both Ben and Carne, as well as all the workshop attendees for a fabulous day of unbridled creativity at ink_d.

Next Saturday the one and only Grande Dame will be in the gallery hosting a ‘Psychedelic Stitching’ Workshop. The day presents a rare chance to learn basic freehand machine embroidery with one of our best-loved artists. You’ll be able to help Grande Dame with the stitching on one of her designs from the Burning Man Festival while she regales the crowd with stories from her time spent as a Burner in the desert earlier this year. What’s more you’ll also leave with your own piece of embroidered art, as well as newfound techniques and skills, double win!

Places are getting snapped up quickly and there are only a few left available so follow this below link to get involved!
