The master of dark, atmospheric imagery Jake Wood-Evans has just dropped his latest mesmerising print edition depicting a pair of beautiful, dancing hummingbirds. ‘Two Lights Dancing in the Night’ are two exquisite five-colour silkscreen prints available in gold and silver versions.
The original conte drawing on paper was exhibited as part of Jake’s recent show ‘Shades of Night’ at London’s Lawrence Alkin Gallery, in which he depicted a variety creatures from stags, to humans, or in this case fluttering hummingbirds, with an eerie inner luminosity. It was the first time Jake had brought drawing to the forefront of his practice, with a number of works on paper being displayed.
You have to take our word on it when we stay that ‘Two Lights Dancing in the Night’ is a print that demands to be seen up close and personal, in the flesh. Each one has been finished with either gold or silver leaf; the layers of silkscreen gently tease the figure of the dynamic birds from the vast, dark background.
Delicate, shimmering and elusive, we are sure this fabulous print is going to fly out the door, especially with a certain big old festival day on its way. If you’re as enamoured by ‘Two Lights Dancing in the Night’ as we are be sure to move quickly, as will all of Jake’s editions they are sure to be immensely popular.
